Fun fact about September: the name comes from the Latin word septem, meaning "seven," because it was the seventh month in the ancient Roman calendar (which originally began in March). For whatever reason the name has stuck around, despite the fact we count it as the ninth month of the calendar these days.
I'm glad the name has stayed, personally, because it's got a pretty nice sound to it(and so do the words dirigible, apotheosis, and dropsy - all meanings aside).
Anyway, now that the word nerd stuff is out of the way, we were stoked to help see August out and September in by sponsoring Camp Commerce 2025 in the Hamptons at the end of the month. Check out the highlight reel for thathere.
Then just last week, Rebuy's own Julia Whatley(pictured in red below) had the opportunity to present on two of our latest product releases, Bundle Builderand Smart Collections, atiamota's partner panel at their Whistler retreat last week. (Check out that mountain view, though!)
So, all in all, it's been a splendid month here at Rebuy so far, and I hope the same's been true for you. I've got some solid tips on building customer loyalty and increasing conversions in this month's newsletter, and we've also got some great events coming up this fall. Details on all of that below.
I'll leave you with two very differently flavored September tunes:
If your brand has a deep product catalog, don’t leave your shoppers to wade through endless SKUs on their own. Large assortments can be overwhelming, especially on mobile, where limited screen space makes it harder to scan. Without clear entry points, customers are more likely to bounce before they ever reach a product page.
The fix is to structure the journey from the very top. Curated entry points like “Top Sellers,” “Bundles,” or “Samples & Gifts” give shoppers a way to self-direct. Instead of scrolling blindly, visitors quickly understand your assortment and can choose the path that matches their intent.
Optimize for mobile: Place collection tiles or sliders right below navigation so shoppers can sort before they scroll
Start with collections, not products: Lead with high-level categories that give shoppers context at a glance
Feature high-performers: Showcase bestsellers or most-loved collections first to guide discovery
Key takeaway:For brands with extensive catalogs, clarity beats choice overload. Guiding shoppers into curated collections early shortens the path to product pages and increases the likelihood they’ll convert. When you reduce friction, you boost results.
Credit can be more than a checkout moment - it can be your loyalty engine
If your brand offers a co-branded credit card (e.g., through Tandym or Bread Financial), don’t stop at using it as a point-of-sale tool. The most successful programs treat credit as a full lifecycle strategy that builds loyalty, drives repeat purchases, and increases customer lifetime value.
Insights from Retail Dive show that when credit is integrated across acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and growth, it graduates from just another payment method into a long-term relationship driver.
Here’s how to get it right across the lifecycle:
Acquisition aligned with intent: Show clear, differentiated benefits at sign-up. Inclusive options, like non-prime credit, open the door for more customers
Onboarding that builds confidence: Educate new cardholders early on rewards, redemption, and account tools. Bonus offers during onboarding can boost activation
Engagement through personalization: Leverage transaction data to deliver tailored incentives, reminders, and rewards that keep customers spending actively
Growth & recognition: Offer natural progression (e.g., non-prime to prime, tier upgrades) and celebrate milestones to sustain loyalty and interest
Key takeaway: For merchants running co-branded credit programs, credit has the power to become a retention engine. Treat it as a lifecycle relationship, and you’ll transform casual cardholders into long-term loyalists.
